The Zadar region area is the largest and most well-known Croatian historical region. It covers the south of Croatia and, it is in one word, the real and original Mediterranean.

This city is an administrative, economical, cultural and political center of Northern Dalmatia and Zadar County. Its position is very specific and it could be named as „meeting point“ for geographically different areas. It is even more interesting because of its natural beauties and because it surrounded by historical and picturesque towns.

How to reach Zadar:

 

Zadar is an easily accessible destination by land, sea and air. It has an excellent traffic structure and connection with other Croatian bigger cities: Zagreb, Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik. On the peninsula itself ( old part of the city ) is located port for the ferry and for the cruisers. It offers an extraordinary view of the entire city at the entrance into the port. For the air traffic access, there is the airport which is 9 km far from the centre. There is as well the regular ferry lines with Zadar archipelago islands. Train connection is available and well integrated into Croatian railway network through Knin. Zadar is regularly connected by bus lines to all bigger towns in Croatia and abroad.

The greeting to the Sun: Sea Organ is the world-known sight but, Zadar has at the present moment, one extraordinary sight more –it is the Greeting to the Sun, made by the same architect Nikola Barišić. It is at the end of Zadar peninsula, next to the famous Sea Organ and it communicates with nature with the light. Sea Organ : The Sea Organ is located near the new cruiser port, within the Zadar waterfront. This is a place of the synergy of human ideas and skills with the energy of the sea, waves, high and low tide. It is a place of relax, thinking and conversation followed by the continual concert of the mystical tones of the “Orchestra of Nature”. The Sea Organ has become an unavoidable point in all tourist itineraries of the city of Zadar and its region.



Church of Saint Donat This is the symbol of the city of Zadar and the most famous monumental edifice in Croatia from the early Middle Ages (9th c.). Today, its space is used, due to its extraordinary acoustic features, for musical performances ("Musical Evenings in Saint Donat"). Kalelarga Kalelarga or Široka ulica (Large Street) the main and most famous street in Zadar is said to be older than the city itself. It extends in the east-west direction from Narodni trg (People’s Square) to the Forum Zadar National Museum Zadar National Museum is a general complex of museums founded in December 1962. It has united four independent museum-gallery institutions that are today the Ethnological and Natural-Science Department, Museum of the City of Zadar and Art Gallery.



What can tourist do in Zadar:

Zadar offers to each type of tourist appropriate kind of fun or pure relaxing. There you can rent a bike, you can take a diving classes. If you prefer hiking and trekking it is possible to organise in one of many service centres. Where to eat: there are many restaurants and we will mention just some of them: Restaurant „ Foša“, Restaurant „ Niko“, Restaurant „ Kornat“, restaurant „ Fortuna“, etc. There are as well many of the café bars, night bars and some of them are: „ Garden“, „ Arsenal“, Caffe gallery „ Gina“, etc.
